16PF - Personality Questionnaire

If you know what you want call Colin Graves (an accredited 16PF facilitator) now on 07881 636538, else read on...

The 16PF (or sixteen personality factors), developed by Raymond Catell is a trait based psychometric tool, that has a variety of uses within learning and development. The 16PF differs from type based questionnaires, such as the Myers Briggs Type Indicator(MBTI) or Insights Discovery, in that it measures the amount of personality trait as apposed to the clarity of preference.

Iridium provides a range of consultancy services using the 16PF personality questionnaire. 16PF is used in selection and coaching, and Iridium's qualified 16PF consultants will interpret the 16PF results to enable you to reach your goals. We can administer the questionnaire as part of your recruitment process, as part of an assessment centre or as a standalone session.

16PF is the most widely used trait based personality questionnaire, is available in over 20 languages and has a worldwide research base conducted over the last sixty years. There are 16 trait dimensions, hence the name 16PF. Answers are compared to a large group of similar level managers/professionals who have completed the questionnaire in the past.

Results are provided in 5 broad areas: relating to others, influence and collaboration, thinking style, structure and flexibility and management of pressure with several sub-scales for each area. The 16 scales make it easy for 16PF to be linked with your competency framework when used for selection. 16PF looks at personal preferences rather than observed ability but it is very useful for giving an insight into what motivates and what ‘switches off’ people. In development the 16PF can be a useful tool for generating discussion around personal development plans.

16PF results are produced in a range of concise, graphical and user friendly computer generated expert reports and are also given in comparison to norms of similar level candidates. Click here for a sample report.

A typical recruitment scenario would involve candidates completing the questionnaire online in advance of an interview and a report produced highlighting areas to probe at interview. Typically reports are turned around in 48 hours. Our clients include The Open University and BAE Systems.
