Coach Development Programme for leaders and managers in the workplace.

This programme is designed for leaders, managers and professionals who currently have responsibility for effective coaching and mentoring as part of their daily role or are seeking to build a coaching culture in their team/organisation.

The programme includes all the taught content of Iridium’s highly acclaimed (but now discontinued)  ILM5 Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring but with a significantly reduced assessment component. The programme is therefore ideal for individuals looking to use coaching as part of their daily role and seeking to develop their knowledge, skills and behaviours of coaching best practice without undergoing a lengthy assessment process.

What distinguishes this coaching programme from others is the broad syllabus. In addition to covering core coaching principles and frameworks, the programme incorporates tools and techniques for coaching in a range of contexts including work/life balance; managing change and developing self-awareness and emotional intelligence. The programme also incorporates coaching psychology, creative approaches to coaching and current thinking on presence, energy and developing reflective inquiry. This eclectic blend ensures that the programme is both challenging and holistic.

How is the programme delivered?

The programme is delivered by Dr Gillian Graves utilising a blended learning approach of workshops delivered via Zoom, small group work and individual self-paced learning using Iridium’s virtual learning environment (VLE).

The key elements of the programme are:

  • 6 full-day Live Online training modules using Zoom
  • Comprehensive programme notes and relevant articles and learning materials, including a copy of ‘Coaching with Impact’.
  • Access to all materials on Iridium’s learning platform for the duration of the programme.
  • Reading from programme book list.
  • Email/telephone support throughout the course.
  • Support with submission of two assignments.

There will be tutor feedback and supervision during the programme.  The assignments form the formal part of the assessment. On successful completion of the programme participants will receive a certificate of completion.

Details of Assignments

Assignment 1: The Case for Effective Coaching within the Workplace

For the first assignment you are tasked with presenting the case to the Senior Leadership (SLT) for introducing coaching either within your organisation or one that you are familiar with. Your presentation will help members of the SLT further develop their understanding of the role of coaching and its benefits to individuals, teams and the organisation as a whole.

The SLT has sent you some questions that the team would specifically like you to address during the meeting and you are therefore required to provide answers for all of these questions (six in total).

You can decide how you present your answers. For example, you may prepare a PowerPoint presentation with supplementary information in the Notes section; write some detailed notes for each question or prepare a report for the SLT. Whatever format you choose, you need to ensure that your answers are sufficiently detailed and do not require additional verbal or written commentary from yourself.

Assignment 2: Undertaking Effective Coaching within the Workplace

This assignment is based on your coaching practice. You need to provide evidence that you have completed at least 4 sessions, comprising a total of at least 4 hours of coaching, with one coachee. Evidence should be presented in the form of completed coaching documents utilising the coaching templates provided during the programme.

Working with Gill has been an invaluable experience for me. Her approach is warm and supportive yet she stretches and challenges me at the same time. I am rapidly becoming a skilled coach and I am also finding that the confidence I am gaining working with Iridium is spilling over into other areas of my work life. I can honestly say that this is one of the best courses I have done.
